Why we built PAYE
PAYE was built by people who spent too many years watching smart companies waste days on spreadsheets, manual calculations, and late payments. We decided that was a problem worth solving properly.

It started with one bad payday — and a promise that it would never happen to anyone else again.
In 2022, our founders were running a 12-person startup and lost three full days fixing a single payroll error that shorted half the team. Three days, for twelve people. That was the moment they decided payroll shouldn’t work this way.

The first version of PAYE was built in six weeks. It was rough, but it ran payroll without errors — and that was enough. Within a year, 200 companies were using it. Today, over 1,200 teams across 30 countries run their payroll on PAYE.
The mission hasn’t changed since day one: payroll should be the most boring, most predictable part of running a company. We’re not all the way there yet — but we’re a lot closer than the spreadsheet we started with.

«Since switching to PAYE, we run global payroll in minutes — not days. The whole team finally trusts that every cycle is correct.»

The people behind PAYE. A small team of engineers and payroll specialists who think payday should be the least eventful day of your month.
